How to use texture, colour and fragrance this autumn
As we bid farewell to summer and step into autumn, it’s that time again where many of us turn our attention to “cosying up" our interiors.
This can be as simple as introducing a new fragrance or candle, or as involved as updating an entire room. To ease you into the new season, here are a handful of ideas to bring autumnal style and warmth into your home.
Add accent lighting
Table and floor lamps not only add visual interest but also create subtle, cosy pools of lights that transform any room’s atmosphere.
Switch up your scatter cushions
Introduce textures with knits, velvets, animal print and faux fur for an instant feeling of warmth. Or if sticking to block colours, choose rich seasonal shades such as dark green, terracotta, gold and warm browns and naturals.
Layer with throws
A throw draped over a sofa or bed adds colour, pattern and texture, while making the room feel more inviting. Herringbone, tartan or faux fur designs work beautifully for this time of year.
Fill the air with scent
Fragrance is a powerful mood setter. Scented candles, diffusers and room sprays with a warm, spicy, oud note will give your home a welcoming feel to perfectly set the tone for any morning, afternoon or evening.
Despite the weather, autumn and winter don't have to feel dark and gloomy. Have fun with your interiors by adding warmth, colour, texture and fragrance, then settle in and enjoy the cosy evenings ahead.
