Get sorting this summer
Whether it’s down to pets, children or juggling a busy work life, keeping your home the way you want it isn’t always easy. So it’s no surprise that undertaking a good spring clean has become such a staple in our culture, and not doing it at the time can leave you feeling like you’ve missed the opportunity for an interior reset.
But guess what: If you didn’t spring clean in March, it's not too late!
Whatever the time of year, de-cluttering and re-organising your living spaces can make a significant difference in the overall feel of your home.
The key for me has always been to remove unwanted items from the home for good, so gift, donate or sell any unnecessary items that you have fallen out of love with. With particular items this can sometimes feel like a challenge, so if you are unsure about something just store it away for another month or two and see if you still think about it or miss it in your home. If you dont miss it - you know what to do!
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
William Morris
Personally I LOVE a kitchen or bedroom cupboard clear out too. Knowing the inside of the cupboard is as clean and tidy as the room on the other side of that cupboard door brings me great joy.
I always try to store and find neat and easy ways to keep things organised with boxes or dividers. This can be a game-changer, especially for those wire and plug drawers that for years it would make me twitch a little when I decided to brave it and look for that charger I couldn’t find anywhere else in the house. Thankfully, I now have Tupperware boxes and dividers keeping everything clear and tidy.
If you’re feeling in the mood for a clear out but not sure where to start, there’s a great Dorset-based company that can manage the process for you, or simply get in touch to explore how some interior design changes can give you a little more breathing space.
